What can I say about Brenda and her aussies.
She is a wonderful breeder and will do pretty much anything you ask. She raises her puppies with lots of socialization and exposure.
I had the pleasure of purchasing a Wheels X Keata puppy , born Jan.3 , 1997. He was alpha of the litter and has kept this attitude throughout his training. I compete in AKC and USDAA agility and own one of the few fast aussie's out there. Cutter has great drive and speed with wonderful focus. His pushy attitude can be seen everytime we enter the ring. But, he is sweet and loving in the same. Gets along great with all dogs and animals.(my 3 cats)
I highly recommend Highrail aussies to anyone who wants a high drive and fast dog. Just be ready to put your running shoes on, these dogs love to work.

Tilley arrived in my life one day in December 1996. I had been to see many Aussie litters, but none of the breeders I visited had the working dog I desired. Brenda assured me that she had such a dog in her litter, so I flew from Vancouver to Toronto to check it out. Since I was a novice dog owner with big dreams, but no experience, I trusted Brenda to choose the perfect performance dog for me. From day one, I knew she had made the right choice. Many years of hard work and hard play have brought us numerous titles in herding, agility and obedience, including 2 High in Trials in CKC Herding (did you catch us in the recent herding article in the Dog's in Canada Magazine?) and a 3rd place overall finish at the NADAC Nationals in 1999.
Tilley continues to amaze and amuse me with her incredible talents and sense of adventure. She is truly a "Once in a Lifetime" dog. Thanks to Brenda for entrusting me, the novice dog trainer with big aspirations with such a treasured little red merle dog.

We just wanted to thank you for letting us welcome Payton into our home.
She is the sweetest little puppy we have ever met. She is so smart and obedient its so hard to believe at such a young age with her only being just over 4 months. Our trainer thinks she is just the smartest dog she's ever met and she cant believe what a good temperament Payton has. Payton loves people, mainly kids she loves to give kisses and she loves to play with other dogs, especially her best friend Hayden my parents Brittany Spaniel, they are so cute together. Also we wanted to thank you for letting us board Payton there when we had to go away on vacation, she had a great time with your dogs, i think she slept for 2 days when we got her back. So in short thank you for adding Payton to our lives she makes us so happy and give us lots of love and kisses. Which we are sure come from the love you have for your dogs. You will be seeing us again when we decide a perfect time to get Payton a little friend. And if anyone has any questions about your dogs or wants a reference you can have them call us anytime. Thanks again, you can't imagine how much we appreciate the gift you have given us .

Payton says hi, and wants to come visit!
LINK When our youngest daughter decided she wanted to quit riding horses and get a puppy to show in agility and obedience we started researching breeds. We have been dog breeders for 25 years so we knew what we wanted. After we decided on an Aussie we began talking to breeders. We met several nice people, but when our daughter and I went to meet Brenda we were totally pleased. Not only were her dogs friendly and her kennel clean, but she let our daughter run a couple of her dogs through the agility equipment. We met "Link" and for our daughter it was love at first sight. There were no other breeders to meet, no other puppies to look at.
They are just completing Grade 2 at training classes and are having a blast. Link is such a happy, willing learner. I have never had a dog, of any breed, who is such an optimist. Always "up" for whatever is happening, a car ride, a training session, dinner or her very favourite thing - a recall. She flies to our daughter from wherever she is. What a joy to watch. The dream is to compete on a team with older brother (who is a horse rider) in the Equine/Canine relay. Watch for them!!

Choosing an Aussie from Highrail was so simple!
When I first came across the Highrail web site, it became evident that a lot of work, effort and love was put into this web site, and it deserved some further looking into. I was definitely very interested in getting an Australian Shepherd as a pet for me.After spending an afternoon with Brenda and her dogs it was obvious to see that Brenda is an Australian Shepherd Breeder for all the right reasons. Just watching them all having fun together, demonstrating agility and playing Frisbee, I knew this was the kind of dog I wanted to add to my life and that Brenda was the breeder I wanted to deal with.
Chester was born March 5, 2001, and hes the absolute best. Just like his heritage, hes always full of energy, wants to be close by to make sure all is well and loves to get any attention he can get in the process. He joined my family, which includes two other animals - a small collie and cat (both 14 years old) - and he just loves to herd them wherever they go. When I first brought Chester home, there were a few moments where I wasnt sure I understood Chester correctly. When I contacted Brenda to ask for her advice, she quickly without any hesitation guided me and reassured me that Chester and I were doing just fine. Thats the kind of breeder Brenda is. Her life is her dogs. Her love and dedication to all of her dogs and their offspring just shines right through. I wouldnt hesitate to call Brenda again if a similar situation arose. Chester is doing well in obedience classes and hopefully will continue into agility or flyball. Hes very smart and learns quickly (with the right amount of chicken wieners of course!!). He loves his runs in the park with his favorite toy (the tennis ball), and always hopes to meet up with his doggie friends for a good chase around. He absolutely loves kids, and they love him too!
Im so happy to have added Chester to my family. It was the best decision I ever made.

We first met Brenda and her awesome Aussies in January of 2001, although we had been corresponding via email for quite some time before that. We had been talking about getting a dog for years, and had decided that probably an Australian Shepherd was for us, but didn't know where to go from there. Then we discovered the Highrail website. What an impact! All those pictures, and every one had a different story to tell. When we finally met Brenda and her dogs, we were hooked. Every one of them was so different, and yet each one was so well behaved, and had the greatest personalities! No-one else had such well rounded dogs, or as much exuding enthusiasm as Highrail. Brenda's honesty and openness allowed us to be comfortable asking any question. When the puppies were born in March, she encouraged us to be there almost every weekend, getting to know them. Brenda helped us to choose the perfect puppy. Mackenzie will be a year on March 25, and Brenda's ongoing support and interest in her has been a tribute to her immense knowledge and experience with Australian Shepherds. Mackenzie is loaded with personality and her intelligence and enthusiasm for life have filled our home with laughter and excitement.
Thanks, Brenda, for such a great start!

We got Sadie in March 2001. We chose Highrail Aussies because of Brenda. She was so great with us and with the dogs that from the first time we visited we knew right away that this is what we wanted. Sadie was from a litter from Trudy and Wheels and she is the exact temperment as her mom, so sweet and playful. We went through some very trying times with her as a puppy but we are so happy we stuck with it because I couldn't have asked for a better dog. Here is a picture of Sadie with her friend Saber a seven month old rottweiler puppy. Thank you Brenda.

When I decided I would like to get a second dog as a playmate for my first dog, all my two-dog friends were thrilled for me, and everyone else thought I was nuts. Encouraged by the eight-legged households, I inquired at several breeders ofAustralian Shepherds. Upon talking to Brenda, and later meeting her, I immediately liked her openness, honesty, and most of all, the fun she has with her dogs. It was obvious that for Brenda, breeding Australian Shepherds is truly a labor of love. We made several visits to the Highrail farm (which is over an hour each way from my home), first to meet Brenda and the puppy in question, then to let the puppy meet the kids (two boys, age 5 and 7 at the time), then to let our other dog meet the puppy to make sure they got along. Which they did famously. Maya born on June 4, 2000,is a beautiful red-tri, . She has the perfect temperament, and is a wonderful companion and playmate for both our other dog and the children. Always ready with a wet tongue and a soft paw,
" I could not have asked for a better dog."

Matti has turned into a great dog and fits into our family really well.
I love how good she is with our grandkids in fact she doesn't seem to have a mean bone in her body and is always ready to romp around with the 6 year old whom she adores.

Our experience with "Maple".
"Maple has been everything short of a miracle the minute she entered our lives. extremely intelligent, she was quick to learn and has never caused problems in training. Life without her now is unthinkable for us; she provides happiness, love, and protection. A bundle of energy and a blessing to own, this Aussie has changed our lives..."

AS I HAD HOPED, SIMON HAS BECOME A GREAT FAMILY FRIEND AND AN EVEN BETTER FISHING BUDDY FOR ME. HE WILL SIT AND WATCH ME FLYFISHING FOR HOURS AS LONG AS HE GETS TO LICK THE TROUT BEFORE I RELEASE THEM. SOMETIMES HE JUST WADES IN THE RIVERS SILENTLY, AND I WON'T EVEN NOTICE THAT HE IS SITTING OR STANDING IN THE WATER RIGHT BESIDE ME. HE IS A TRUE FISHERMAN. HE ABSOLUTELY LIVES FOR THE WILDERNESS, BUT OFTEN SETTLES FOR THE PARK. HE EVEN LOVES THE BOAT RIDES AT THE COTTAGE STANDING AT THE FRONT OF THE BOAT -" I'M THE KING OF THE WORLD!!!" HE ADORES THE KIDS, AND HIS INTELLIGENCE SURPRISES ME A LITTLE MORE EACH DAY...HE IS AS QUICK AS LIGHTENING, AND HIS ENDURANCE ASTONISHES JUST ABOUT EVERYONE - INCLUDING HIS NEIGHBORHOOD DOG BUDDIES THAT HE RUNS INTO THE GROUND- LITERALLY. THE LOCAL SQUIRRELS AND RABBITS ARE SCARED $#*!LESS OF HIM, BECAUSE HE "CAN" CATCH THEM...
HE IS SO AFFECTIONATE AND LOVING,SIMON'S PERSONALITY HAS SHONE THROUGH ALL OF HIS TRYING MOMENTS, AS HE ONLY SEEMS TO DO THE "BAD THINGS" OUT OF LOVE . HE ONLY WANTS TO BE INCLUDED IN EVERY LITTLE THING. EVEN IF IT'S JUST A RIDE IN THE JEEP TO THE STORE, SIMON IS THE FIRST ONE IN THE BACK SEAT...HE EVEN SURPRISES THE NEIGHBORS OCCASIONALLY AS HE'LL JUMP IN THEIR CAR BEFORE THEY HEAD OFF TO WORK IF HE SEES AN OPEN CAR DOOR!

Why we chose a Highrail Australian Shepherd .
Choosing Brenda Aelick as our breeder was an easy decision . Highrail , like several other breeders listed in the Dogs in Canada Annual , Offered beautiful , quality bred Australian Shepherds that are active in many different areas of competition . What set Highrails dogs apart from the rest was their personality . All four of us liked her adult dogs , and could easily have gone home with any one of them ; they were all well behaved and very friendly to us ( and to each other ). They were active , but much calmer than we had expected , and showing off their unique individual personalities .
True to his heritage , our Ranger at nine months is as friendly as both his parents ; he loves people ( especially children ) , and other dogs . He is extremely smart ( doing very well in obedience ) and as a nice bonus - he's absolutely gorgeous ! .

"Tinkerbell"
She is the friendliest thing on two or four legs, she can wiggle her rear end faster than a speeding bullet, she will love and lick you to death. She learns very quickly and when she learns a new thing she looks at you with those beautiful eyes and wants to learn something else, She has learned that sometimes you don't have to bark at the dogs on TV and sometimes you don't have to bark at those dogs about 1/2 mile down the road, she sits awaiting the "ok" before going outside, jumping in or from the car or truck or eating her meals, always sits for a doggie treat. In the morning she actually groans with pleasure when I rub her back and greet and hug her to start the day. At lunch or in the evening when she lies down for a short rest 9 times out of 10 she will rest her head or back on top of or against my foot, she has (in her own way) become one of the nicest things my wife and I have ever known.

Thank you ever so much

"We were referred to Highrail by friends that had gotten a Highrail Aussie a year before. Since taking Tucker home 18 months ago, we are continually amazed by his intelligence and friendly personality. Most of all, we are so glad that Brenda was able to help us best match the puppy for our family."

Belive it or not, you can blame my old cat of 18 years Missort for having a dog... but to have three, I guess you can credit that to the breed and breeder. I always said that when Missort went to cat heaven I would get a dog. Well that was over 6 1/2 yrs ago. We got our first Highrail girl Daisy in September of 95 and decided that she needed a little friend. Clover came to live with us that following February. Then in May of 2001 we introduced Red Hot Chili Pepper (Chili for short) to our family. When we finally decided to add another Aussie, there was no questions that it would be a Highrail girl. Not only do our girls turn heads, but they are smart and have great personalties. Daisy is a member of the Halifax Kennel Club Drill Team, Clover is our backyard guardian and Chili is now training for her CD in obedience. I had the opportunity to meet Brenda several times over the past few years and was so impressed , not just with her set up and breeding habits, but also for her love of dogs and the breed".

Cheers
